Do black Converse count as dress shoes?

Here%26#039;s the deal. Tonight I have a band concert and black shoes are required, which leaves me with either black heels or completely black Converse. Seeing as I%26#039;m not a heel kind of girl I%26#039;d much rather wear the Converse. But, my conducter says they have to be DRESS shoes...

I say that Converse work just as well especially because no one%26#039;s going to watch my feet. And they%26#039;re in nice condition, look nice.

So, how many people support the black Converse?

Do black Converse count as dress shoes?
i love my converse if i wear them with jeans or something

but i would never ever in a million years wear them as a dress shoe.. get some heals honey
Reply:No,black Converse are NOT dress shoes. And, as a former bandsman, I think that your director or conductor would be within his rights to keep you off the stage with the Converse shoes. They WILL be seen by someone. You will stick out like a sore thumb. Wear the heels.

Regards,

Dan
Reply:hey many a star have pulled them off with suits and tuxedos but to be honest I would not mess with your conductor who is probably an old fuddy duddy and would not get the hip look.... go with the heels or see if a friend has a pair of flats you can borrow
Reply:As long as there is no visible writing, and they are not torn. A bit of wear is ok i guess. The band probably wants you to play good, rather than have wear a $200 pair of dress heals that will impair your skill.
Reply:I%26#039;d say no. Generally, dress shoes are %26#039;shinable%26#039;, meaning you can gloss them up. You%26#039;ll be sitting, it sounds like, so go with the heels, and keep the comfy shoes back stage for a quick change after!
Reply:i love my converse, but i would not suggest them to be worn as dress shoes.

i would wear the high heels. dont worry, you%26#039;ll get used to them.
Reply:They%26#039;re sneakers. They are NOT dress shoes. Sorry, I know it%26#039;s a pain, I%26#039;ve been in the same situation myself. They do make flat dress shoes though, you should look into those.
Reply:It depends If they are the Classic Chucks

Then No.

But if the are the new all star style.

Then yes.

=))
Reply:.........They are in my book........ I bet you%26#039;re conductor does not like Mohawks either but i bet someone in you%26#039;re concert will be sporting one.......
Reply:converse are amazing!! wear them and bring the heels in case anyone says anything...
Reply:they are not dress however if you are wearing pants that will cover them then go for it ;D
Reply:totally ME!!!! i%26#039;ve tried it and i think it looks absolutely cool!!
Reply:Converse black sneakers are NOT dress shoes!
Reply:I think you would look good, I support the black converse!
Reply:Sorry I don%26#039;t. Converse may be more comfortable but wrong for the event. They are SNEAKERS!
Reply:Err...for dress shoes? Nah.
