I%26#039;m going out to dinner with my husband for a special occasion and I%26#039;m thinking of wearing this dress and these shoes. I am bored of wearing black, so I like that these are both colorful. What do you think of them?? I appreciate your honesty.

What accessories go best with a red dress... shoes, nylons if any?

Hello, I%26#039;m going to a very formal christmas party and I have purchased the most beautiful classy red dress that is knee length. I don%26#039;t know what color panty hose to wear or if I should not wear any at all. Also I have a pair of black peep toe heels with red on the bottom of the shoe? I also have red patient shoes? Then do I wear gold or silver accessories? I don%26#039;t need a necklace because the dress covers my chest but it is sleevless. Any help from my fashion friends would be greatly appreciated.

What accessories go best with a red dress... shoes, nylons if any?
Well for the panty hose I would definately go with none or nude colored....

Shoes- the black peep toed heels

Accessories- Silver hoop earings and a cute little black jacket
Reply:If you go for the black/red look, wear neutral panty hose. Always wear panty hose when dressing formal. A black sweater, shawl, open crop sweater, or a shrug can top it off. The cover-up could also have shiny threads running through it or beading. Your ear rings would look good in either gold or black drop beads.
Reply:Pantyhose - definitely nude. It becomes rather wide spread not to wear panty hose at all; if you%26#039;re young that%26#039;ll do, but otherwise pantyhose still looks better, or those spray tanners.

Shoes I%26#039;d probably also go with the black and red, but try them both - the patent ones and the black ones in front of a mirror. (Myself, I%26#039;d wear gold metallic shoes, I think). Gold or silver - either goes with red, it%26#039;s more what flatters you most. Put the silver stuff to your face. Then put the gold stuff. See which one really makes your face stand out; the right one even shines more next to your face.

If it%26#039;s not that cold where you%26#039;re going, I%26#039;d wear the dress as is or with a fancy (shiffon or something metallic or something like that) shawl at most. You are not mentioning your age/weight, so I assume you%26#039;re relatively young and with no figure issues. The black jacket or shrug thingy would also do, as would a short jacket made of faur persian or broadtail fur.
Reply:wear nude pantyhose, black high heels and silver hoop earrings
Reply:Skip the nylons and wear the peep toes (I say to skip the panty hose only if you choose the peep toes because panty hose lines look tacky if you can see them on your toes!). Make sure you shave well and use lotion so your legs look nice though!

I prefer silver accessories.

WHAT KIND OF JEANS TO WEAR WITH DRESS SHoES??

i am 16 years old 130 pounds 5%26#039;8 guy so im in good shape. i have to go to a party and i needed a new pair of jeans i am a fashion retard and i heard straight leg jeans go well with dress shoes but im sure there are many other jeans. what are the levis ones that in ads look eral fitted are they straight legs? so what kind of jeans go well with dress shoes to give a casual look and what brand makes them best

WHAT KIND OF JEANS TO WEAR WITH DRESS SHoES??
darkwash! semi flared, straight leg, or skinny.
Reply:where some babyphat jeans go to the site babyphat.com an find the type of jeans you want
Reply:The boot cut type
Reply:any kind of jeans except baggy but make sure they are dark that makes you look put together
Reply:You definitely need a dark wash with dressy shoes. Try a straight leg style or even a bootcut (also called boot fit). Bootcut styles have a small flare near the bottom and compliment nearly every body type. If you%26#039;re looking for good places to shop try the Gap or Macy%26#039;s.
Reply:The brand doesn%26#039;t matter as long as they are black, or dark navy in color. Faded blue or black won%26#039;t work. They are too causual. The style of leg doesn%26#039;t matter at all. You can wear boot cut style with any kind of shoes or boots. I prefer them on a guy over straight legs. More sexy no matter what kind of shoes.
Reply:Definitely straight leg jeans with dress shoes.

Don%26#039;t wear flares or the jeans that get smaller at the bottom leg.

Is it appropriate to wear regular black dress shoes with a Tuxedo or should I get Black Shiny Tuxedo Shoes?

I%26#039;m going to a Black Tie Fundraiser Party, Is it appropriate to wear regular black dress shoes with a Tuxedo or should I get the Black Shiny Tuxedo shoes?

Is it appropriate to wear regular black dress shoes with a Tuxedo or should I get Black Shiny Tuxedo Shoes?
As long as the shoes are dressy. Are they a matte black? Then no way. I would suggest shoes that shine and tie, like a wingtip. If you don%26#039;t have any, you might want to rent the shoes.
Reply:No need to go shiny. You can go with the regular.

How does one fix hole on bottom of dress shoes?

I have a large hole in the bottom of one shoe of one pair of my dress shoes. The leather bottom is worn out for about an inch in circumference, and the secondary insulation layer also is worn away, with only one layer left.

Is there any way I can repair this shoe? Might it be better for me just to spend another $120 for a new shoe?

Do cobblers still exist?

How does one fix hole on bottom of dress shoes?
Of course if you have good uppers, there is no reason to toss them out. Go see a shoe repair shop.
Reply:no i dont think so. try going back to the place you bought it just to make sure. but if its so old, you might want to treat yourself to some shoes even if they werent broken.
Reply:Take them to a shoe repair shop and see if they can fix it and how much it will cost. They should be able to do it and it will be cheaper than buying new shoes.

Bates black leather military dress shoes....How do I shine to a high gloss?

I have a pair of Bates black leather military dress shoes. I want to know how to shine them to a high gloss?

Bates black leather military dress shoes....How do I shine to a high gloss?
What You Need:

Shoe Polish

Cloth

Water or Alcohol

Here%26#039;s How:

Spread a medium-thick layer of paste polish over the portion of the boot to be spit shined.

Allow it to dry for 5 to 10 minutes.

Wrap a soft, clean cloth around your index finger so that it is smooth (no wrinkles). Alternately, you can use a cotton ball. Dip your finger or the cotton ball into a container of water. The cloth/cotton should be wet, but not dripping.

Buff the dried polish (using a circular motion) with the wet cloth/cotton ball, until the wax starts to become shiney.

Still using the damp rag on your finger, apply a fine layer of polish in a circular motion and keep on rubbing lightly until a hazy shine develops.

Using the (now) damp cloth, or cotton ball, keep applying THIN coats of wax, buffing them with a small circular motion.

When the boot is highly glossed, use a clean dry soft cloth or a shining brush to give it a final buff.

Tips:

The reason to use a wet cloth is to stop the fine coats of polish sticking to the cloth and to encourage the polish to stick to the leather.

You want to keep on building up thin layers of wax until you have a completely smooth surface that gives the glossy shine.

After the first heavy coat of polish you must use small amounts of polish to build up the shine. If you use too much polish, it will dissolve the base you have already built up.

T-shirts work well for the cloth material, as do cloth diapers.

Some people prefer to use rubbing alcohol instead of water.

How can I make the bottom of my dress shoes get more grip?

I bought some new Stacy Adams dress shoes and i am going to a party. The bottom of the shoes are not rubber, it is hard and smooth. My shoes slide too much when i walk and i dont want to slip on a hard floor. I heard hair spray will make it stickier and have more grip but i think it might make it more slippery. Is there a way to get more grip with this type of shoe?

How can I make the bottom of my dress shoes get more grip?
Get a nail file or a piece of sandpaper and scuff the soles of the shoes, just scratch the heck out of them. Alternatively, you can put them on, find a rough patch of sidewalk and scrape them there.

I%26#039;ve done this many times for dress shoes (like for weddings when I%26#039;ve been a bridesmaid and had to walk down an aisle in brand new slippy-bottom shoes) and it works everytime.

Best!
Reply:Some people use alittle sand paper to roughen the soles up so they are not so slippery! Don%26#039;t know if you want to do that with those shoes or not! Just a thought!
Reply:Find out what the soles are made of from the store you purchased them from. Most good dress shoes have leather soles which are slippery at first. I break in a pair of shoes by wearing them without walking in them. Just put them on and read or play on the computer a bit. You get fewer calluses. My most expensive shoes were designed not to slip on wet metal ship decks when I worked on freighters. I would not have liked to find out if I could swim in them.
Reply:Take your shoes to a cobbler. they can put this stuff on the bottom that will make them more grippy, and it doesn%26#039;t cost much at all.

:]
Reply:All I can think of is putting on/cutting in some extra tread in the heel of the shoe... Though without damaging the shoe, I don%26#039;t know. You could try the hair spray, but having sticky shoes and shoes with tread are two different things. Sorry I can%26#039;t be of much help %26gt;%26lt;
Reply:I use to by the black rubber foam (usually whet with my shoe),the stuff you get in the craft part of the store. Cut out an area to match my shoe I would supper glue it on to the shoe or use shoe goo, gorilla glue even works. If your not hard on your shoes it usually last a while and works well. But make sure it%26#039;s the rubber foam and not the other stuff.
Reply:duct tape put a strip on bottom of shoes.you mean you dont have the book 1001 uses for duct tape?
Reply:DUCK TAPE!!!! no im just kidding, ask a shoe dept. store for advice, they make shoe soles can u replace the slick ones with another one with more grip? Wish i could help but call a shoe repair shop or call a professional shoe store, or heck, take em back and buy a new pair with better grip... but in the meantime, %26quot;dont slip and fall%26quot; lol
Reply:You can rub the bottom with sand paper but run the risk of scuffing the shoes. OR you can buy the rubber jar lid grippers at wal mart and cut out a peice small enough for the bottom and super glue those babies. Good luck!
Reply:There is a special grip tape that you can put on the bottom of shoes. For sure, they sell it at any DSW, but you might also want to try any convenient store..i think they are called sole stoppers.
Reply:Drug stores sell stickies that look like sand paper for the bottom of shoes (next to the inserts). Hairspray won%26#039;t work for very long. When you have time you can take your shoes to get resoled (if you spend a lot of money on them), if not the stickies last for about as long as the shoe.
Reply:Do what we choir kids do. A local shoemaker/repair place can Half-sole them for apprx. $20. Trust me it%26#039;s worth it !

Do black Converse count as dress shoes?

Here%26#039;s the deal. Tonight I have a band concert and black shoes are required, which leaves me with either black heels or completely black Converse. Seeing as I%26#039;m not a heel kind of girl I%26#039;d much rather wear the Converse. But, my conducter says they have to be DRESS shoes...

I say that Converse work just as well especially because no one%26#039;s going to watch my feet. And they%26#039;re in nice condition, look nice.

So, how many people support the black Converse?

Do black Converse count as dress shoes?
i love my converse if i wear them with jeans or something

but i would never ever in a million years wear them as a dress shoe.. get some heals honey
Reply:No,black Converse are NOT dress shoes. And, as a former bandsman, I think that your director or conductor would be within his rights to keep you off the stage with the Converse shoes. They WILL be seen by someone. You will stick out like a sore thumb. Wear the heels.

Regards,

Dan
Reply:hey many a star have pulled them off with suits and tuxedos but to be honest I would not mess with your conductor who is probably an old fuddy duddy and would not get the hip look.... go with the heels or see if a friend has a pair of flats you can borrow
Reply:As long as there is no visible writing, and they are not torn. A bit of wear is ok i guess. The band probably wants you to play good, rather than have wear a $200 pair of dress heals that will impair your skill.
Reply:I%26#039;d say no. Generally, dress shoes are %26#039;shinable%26#039;, meaning you can gloss them up. You%26#039;ll be sitting, it sounds like, so go with the heels, and keep the comfy shoes back stage for a quick change after!
Reply:i love my converse, but i would not suggest them to be worn as dress shoes.

i would wear the high heels. dont worry, you%26#039;ll get used to them.
Reply:They%26#039;re sneakers. They are NOT dress shoes. Sorry, I know it%26#039;s a pain, I%26#039;ve been in the same situation myself. They do make flat dress shoes though, you should look into those.
Reply:It depends If they are the Classic Chucks

Then No.

But if the are the new all star style.

Then yes.

=))
Reply:.........They are in my book........ I bet you%26#039;re conductor does not like Mohawks either but i bet someone in you%26#039;re concert will be sporting one.......
Reply:converse are amazing!! wear them and bring the heels in case anyone says anything...
Reply:they are not dress however if you are wearing pants that will cover them then go for it ;D
Reply:totally ME!!!! i%26#039;ve tried it and i think it looks absolutely cool!!
Reply:Converse black sneakers are NOT dress shoes!
Reply:I think you would look good, I support the black converse!
Reply:Sorry I don%26#039;t. Converse may be more comfortable but wrong for the event. They are SNEAKERS!
Reply:Err...for dress shoes? Nah.
Reply:NO
